Industrial Market Research Background:
I am the founder and for fifteen years was the editor of the
Ausnewz Pulp & Paper Intelligence Service.
Ausnewz Pulp & Paper is an intelligence report on the Australian,
New Zealand and Indonesian and North Asian pulp and paper industries.
The Ausnewz Pulp & Paper Intelligence Service offers a full
range of intelligence services to the industry, including monthly
intelligence reports, multi–client studies and a private
consulting capability.
Since 1993 Ausnewz has also published the Ausnewz Pulp
& Paper Year Book which is acknowledged as the
definitive reference on the pulp & paper industry in Australia
and New Zealand.
In 1994, Ausnewz first published The Australian Forest
Products Industry Review, the most comprehensive, commercially–focused
review available on the forest products industry, its growth
opportunities and challenges.
In 1995, Ausnewz Pulp & Paper Intelligence Service began
publishing studies of the pulp and paper industry on the Western
Pacific Rim. It began with The Indonesian Pulp Sector
– Status & Potential, an in–depth analysis
of the ability of Indonesian pulp producers to supplement world
pulp supply over the next decade.
The study was updated in 1996
and complemented with a study of Indonesian wood costs. A new
study, entitled The Indonesian Pulp and Printing &
Writing Paper Sectors – Their Status & Potential Impact
on the World Market was published in August 1997 and
this was followed, in 1999, with The Pulp & Printing
& Writing Paper Sector in Post-Suharto Indonesia.
Building on a 1998 study of the Japanese pulp and paper industry
(The Future of the Japanese Printing & Communication/Information
Paper Sector), Ausnewz Pulp & Paper Intelligence
Service published The Future Market for Pulpwood in
Japan & China in 2001.
Upon the sale of the Ausnewz Pulp & Paper Intelligence Service
to URS Corporation, I accepted a position as Associate Director
of URS Australia Pty Ltd.
Subsequent to joining URS I wrote a multi-client study on the
pulp and paper industry in China entitled: The Pulp
